this project has consisted of getting a recipe from a native Spanish speaking country and then translating it to Spanish. In this project we also each wrote an ode to one of the ingredients. Also for the exhibition we cooked our recipes and served people.

Ode
Ode to Bacon
By:
Joe Wilson
Bacon is so great
it fills my mind everyday
I want to eat it.
The smell is so fresh
like waterfalls of rainbows
I want to smell it.
The sight is so mint
like looking on god himself
I want to see it.
The feel is so rough
like a smoothed sandpaper
I want touch it.
The sound is so crisp
like fresh colorless iced snow
I want to hear it.
The taste is so great
like nothing you’ve had before
we need to eat it.
Oda al Tocino
Por: Joe
Wilson
Tocino es tan
grande
llena mi mente
diario
quiero comer
el olor es tan
fresco
como cascadas
de arcos iris
quiero olerlo
la vista es
tan menta
como Dios
mirándose a sí mismo
quiero verlo
la sensación
es tan áspero
como un papel
de lija alisado
quiero tocarlo
el sonido es
tan nítido
como nieve
helado fresco sin color
quiero
escucharlo
el sabor es
tan grande
como nada que
has tenido antes
necesitamos
comerlo
Reflection
when doing this project I honestly did not learn much at all. The only real thing that i learned during this project is a few fun facts about the country that my dish came from. For example, in Puerto Rico there are packs of wild dogs that roam the lands, but the dogs are not means, they are more like packs of friendly puppys. My dish (rice and beans) tasted really good and was fairly easy to make, which i would expect it to be because it is one of the most cooked and eaten meals of Puerto Rico. The part of the project that i am most proud of is the ode to bacon that I wrote. I am proud of this because this was that part of the project that I put the most amount time and effort into
Arte y Lengua
This project consisted of me choosing a Spanish artist that i liked, creating a piece of art that mimicked his or her style, writing an artist statement in Spanish, and then display our art at our exhibition.
Artist Statement:
A mi me gusta Xulio Villarino’s fotos paisaje.
This project was fun in many ways. I also took something away from this project this project really helped me with my adaptability. It did this because when i was gone for a week I came back to a lot of work and i had to adapt to this by really putting my all into it and getting it done.

Project/Del Alma Reflection
This project was a good experience for me. I really enjoyed seeing my project go from notes to an english draft to a spanish product. Taking these step felt very good. Every time i would finish a step i would feel very accomplished. This project was good in many ways, but I felt that you gave us way to much time to do these steps. In a way, thats a good thing because i felt very relaxed writing my book. But I think that we could have done it faster and would have had more time to study a new concept
The exhibition that was held at the Del Alma elementary school was my favorite exhibition this year. I really think that this exhibition was very well thought out and was a great learning experience for us at the Animas and also for the students at Del Alma. I think that in the future we should do more things with kids.
